What a gorgeous bird; is that a Red Shafted Flicker..? I used to watch these large birds just decimate ant hills in the Cincinnati area. They would just sit next to an ant hill and scoop up the ants as they exited the hill. I know they ate black oiler sunflower seeds as well. A real great shot of a very beautiful bird!!

Oooops, I just checked the Cornell Ornithology site and this beauty is a Red Bellied Woodpecker, not a Red Shafted Flicker. Still, both are large and gorgeous birds…
